Someone wrote this down

homemore than oncepower difference: yes

Every family dinner has a scorecard, and I'm always losing. An older relative — the one everyone defers to — has a way of asking about my life that is really an announcement about someone else's. When are you buying a place, your cousin just did. Still at that job? It's said with a smile, in front of everyone, and if my face changes I'm told I'm too sensitive. I'm an adult. I like my life most days. But I sit in the car for a few minutes before every dinner, getting ready, and again after, recovering.
